Anthony: I am good, how are you
today?
M:
good, I am so happy interviewing you now, let’s start
M:
Could you tell me about yourself? (Your name, home country)
A: My name is Anthony
from the Korea. I am from the capital city which is Seoul.
M: I have some Korean friends are from different cities. Would
like tell me about the Seoul?
A:
Sure, it is a major city and has more than 10 million people. It is one of the
world’s top ten financial and commercial centers.
M: it is nice city, I haven’t been there. Some friends tell me
about it is amazing city. How long you have been here for studying?
A: I have been here for 2 semesters.
M: I have been here for 1 year, do you like Saint Cloud?
A: yes, I really like this city because my
friend was at this university for 1 year and told me some interesting things.
Also, I like this city’s weather and snow. And my favorite sport is ice hockey.
M: oh, my favorite
sport is the ice hockey too. This university has famous team at America.
A:
really? I heard about that this week it has competition. Are you going to
there?
M:
Sure, I am a St. Cloud hockey’s fans. Because I like hockey, I selected this
university. How are about you?
A: I am transform
student for one 1 year, my country’s university makes cooperation with this
university. Every year, my university would like to send students to this
university for 1 year.
M: it is interesting.
Would like to tell me about your country?
A: it an east Asian
region that is currently divided into two separate sovereign states. Korea is
bordered by China to the northwest, and it closes the Japan with North Korea.
M: what is the population of your
country and cities?
A: It is about 50
million of people there is a population of 9,794,304 in Seoul, and total area
is 99,392 square kilometers. We have 20 famous of cities in my country.
M: Can you tell me some major holidays in your country?
A: most of important
festival is the spring festive. It is same with Chinese. We celebrate it with
family at home and eat traditional cuisine. Most of food is made by family,
before this festival my mother will prepare different materials for dinner.
Additional, some children would like to watch the TV, and playing the games. At
that day I help my mother to do the big dinner.
M: wow, it looks like my country’s culture. What is traditional
food in your country?
A: The traditional foods mostly are on rice,
noodles, tofu, fish and meats. Kimchi is a major spicy vegetable, it is famous
of the world, every year we will eat that vegetable with rice and eggs are mix
together put on some soy sauce. Sometime, we make different noodles with meats
mix them, and with drink.
M: there are very good meals, I would like to taste the Kimchi.
Last semester my one of my Korean friend made it for me, it was very good, but
I don’t know how cook it. Do you know how cook it.
A: yes. It is not
complicated. If you have time I will tell you how to do it.
M: thank you, I will make another time with you for it.
A:
no problem.
M: does your country have some religions when
you are going to celebrate different festivals?
A:
not too much people believe some religions. In my country, a half of people
they don’t have religion. Some people are on Buddhism, Protestantism,
Catholicism and others. In my family we don’t have. But sometime special
festive we have to wear the traditional clothes. Women’s transitional
clothes are jacket and long skirt. Men’s clothes are pants, jacket, vest are
showing the unique style.
M: oh. I haven’t see that clothes, maybe looks
like my country’s clothes. Do you have it now?
A:
No, I have it on my home are not in apartment, next time I will show you.
M: Nice, may take a picture when you are
going to show me?
A: Sure, I hope your friends will enjoy your
pictures.
M: thanks. Let keep doing, how is the
political system of your country structured?
A: it is a republic country at Asia and established
at 1948 is a sovereign state in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula.
South Korea is a presidential republic consisting of seventeen administrative
divisions and is a developed country with a very high standard of living. We
are referred to as the Sixth republic of South Korea at current constitution of
state.
M: what is construction of your government?
A: A government divided in to three
branches: legislative, executive, judicial. It is determined by the
constitution of republic of Korea.
M: I didn’t know that, but now most of information is
valuable, I will keep it to share with my friends. It is different between two countries. Let
take about the differences. What do you perceive as differences between your
culture and the American culture?
A: it very different. When I came
to hear the language was major cause, I didn’t understand all of conversation
with my classmates and professors. After 1 semester I have improving the English
skills with my American friends. They
are so friendly with me, I was surprised by that. My point was that they don’t
like Asian because we are different race. It was huge wrong point for me.
M:
I agree with you, I got same experience. But now, we are making many friends we
are enjoy many parties without any obstacle. So, what are you going to do for
your last semester?
A: I just study my major that is
international business at this university. After this before go back my
country, I will go to cross every state with my friend and collecting every
state’s different coins. I will show you later, it is in my apartment.
M: OK. I will wait
that day. I am so happy interview you,
and your information are useful for me to understand your country. At end of
interview, do you have any questions that you would like to ask me at all?
A: Yes, I have a question why didn’t show up on my party
last week?
M:
I am so sorry. I spend time on my homework. But this week I will make party, I
invite you should come over.
A: sure.
M:

Preparations for the Interview
For my interview, I researched some
information about how to make a good interview, especially, process that I
should know that. Frist, I have to
choose interviewee, second I have to selected different questions to ask him,
during the interview I have to communicate with him about different points
which are personal and regular. For this interview, my objective for the
interview is that I am going to ask questions about his country. Before I am
going to interview I researched some information about the Korea will trying to
use this information to close him. Furthermore, I made two copies of questions
for each other is order to us what process is. To record the interview, I will
write down important data from interviewee. After it, I will construe important
information from this interview assignment.
How Did I Approach People?
I used Facebook to connect with my
friends, and ask them that are they have best for this assignment. Maybe, I
asked 15 friends just 4 friends have best time for this work, then I compare
them which is my best of interviewee. As result, I selected one person will
going to on interview. After the
Facebook time, we used the cellphone to connect.
When, where, and how did I Conduct the
Interview?
I worked the interview with Anthony
lee at the library of study room. The interview time was 6:00 at library. I had to check a study room before 6 pm. Then
I got a key and room number I set message for him. About 6:10 we started the
interview. First, I gave him a copy of questions about this assignment. He read
it about 2 minutes. I explain the process of interview how long will be. At begin, we introduced each other, and then
we were going to focus the conversations. During interview we shared different
information opinions, sometime made jokes and drink water. Also, we used
different action to descript ours points, and eyes contract.
Whom did you Interview?
I interviewed my friend his name is
Anthony who are from Korea, living the biggest of city is Seoul. He is
transform student at St. Cloud University, which major is international
business. He is living the apartment with his Korean friends. He just has a semester for transform student
time. He wants to across every state at America. We are friend at party with
celebrated his friend’s birthday.
Describe the Interview
This interview was very good for me.
It was my first time interviewed someone. I learned a lot of things from this
interview. However, I realized a lot more about Korea on different aspects that
culture, food, festive, and so on. We made successful job for this assignment,
it was a good experience. According to this
assignment I have improving my English skill. In addition, we received a lot of
information, it will help me on my studying for country reports, and making
friend. I made agreement with him about different policies could be negative
for people such as his country’s taxation, his point was to increase, but my
point decrease. We explained different ideas to support ours. Furth more, we
shared about ours country’s policies which are need to rebuilt to help more
people get benefit.
Report on Country
and Culture
South of Korea is called
republic of Korea at Asia, established at 1948 is a sovereign state in the
southern part of the Korean Peninsula. It closed the China, North Korea and
Japan. The capital city is Seoul which is largest city. Furthermore, today the
population nears 50 million (1), most of people who living at Seoul city. South
Korea is one of the most ethnically homogenous societies in the world, with
more than 99% (1) of inhabitants having Korean ethnicity. Additionally, Korean cuisine has evolved
through centuries of social and political change. Ingredients and dishes are
most of people likes. People would like to use ingredients on the food, and the
dishes are bowl and chopsticks. They cuisine is largely based on rice, noodles,
tofu, vegetables, fish and meats. One of famous food is pickles which is
traditional meal for family party or important festivals. However, national
cloth is Hanbok are really similar with North Korea, China. Generally only they
wear to be special significance by the festive. Women’s transitional clothes
are jacket and long skirt. Men’s clothes are pants, jacket, vest are showing
the unique style.
