J: I am good, how are you today?
M:
good, I am so happy interviewing you at Skype, let’s start.
M:
Could you tell me about yourself?
J: My name is Jack
from the Singapore. I am from the capital city which is Singapore city.
M: I have some Singapore friends who were my classmate when I
was at Singapore. Would like tell me about the Singapore city?
J: it is a major city. It is one of the world’s top ten financial and commercial centers. It located at south of Singapore. We called it as” flower city”, because it is a famous of port at the entire world which name is JiBao.

M: nice city. I would like to go to there if I have opportunity.
Some friends tell me about it is amazing city. How is your studying?
J: As you know I graduated from XiLei high school
with you, after that I am studying at WuNan University.
M: I left Singapore for 3 year, I usually remember ours high
school life. Do you still play basketball?
J: sure, I made a lot of teammates when you left
the school. Every week, I play with my friends at this university with
different teams.
M: so interesting. As you know I came to America I would like to go to watch NBA.

really? We were watch at high school, but now you can watch at right place. It
cannot believe that.
M:
it true. I am studying at Minnesota State. This state’s basketball team is
Timberwolves which means many wolves. I know you like the Chicago Bulls.
J: good job. I like
it, but I just watch game at TV which is not good for me. I want to go to watch
at U.S.
M: I will invite you come to America. Would like to tell me about your country?
J: is a Southeast Asian city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It made up of 63 islands. It established at 1963 from British territories.
M: what is the population of your country and cities?

J: It is about 5.18
million of people. Twenty-three percent of Singaporean citizens were born
outside Singapore i.e. foreign born citizens. There are half a million
permanent residents in Singapore.
M: Can you tell me some major holidays in your country?
J: most of important
festival is the spring festive. It is same with Chinese. We celebrate it with
family at home and eat traditional cuisine. Most of food is made by family,
before this festival my mother will prepare different materials for dinner.
Additional, some children would like to watch the TV, and playing the games. At
that day I help my mother to do the big dinner.
M: wow, it looks like my country’s culture. What is traditional
food in your country?
J: Dining,
along with shopping, is said to be the country's national pastime. The
diversity of food is touted as a reason to visit the country, and the variety
of food representing different ethnicities is seen by the government as a
symbol of its multiculturalism. The "national fruit" of Singapore is
the durian. In popular culture, food items belong to a particular ethnicity,
with Chinese, Indian, and Malay food clearly defined.
M: there are so many foods are same with my country. But I didn’t like durian when I was at high
school. Do you know how to cook some food?
J: No way. It is complicated.
I don’t like to cook foods when I was young. But, now I sometime I would like
to learn about that are not usually such as you really like to cook food.
M: yes, now I am trying to learn how to cook American foods with
different styles, should I show you if I am go to your country.
J:
Maybe.
M: does your country have some religions when
you are going to celebrate different festivals?
J:
Buddhism is the most widely practiced religion in
Singapore, with 33 percent of the resident population declaring themselves
adherents at the most recent census. Some people are on Christianity, Islam, Taoism and Hinduism. Most
Buddhists in Singapore are Chinese and are of the Mahayana tradition. The most
of traditional clothes are from the families before celebrating festive.
M: I
had one clothe was gifts from you, when we celebrated the festive at your
family, it was very fun with your family. Do you have more clothes I am young
brother wants to get a cloth from me.
J:
Yes, I have many different clothes, but you are in U.S how could I send it for
you?
M: you can take pictures sent it for brother,
he will pick up, and then you can email me, I will tell you later.
J: OK, I hope your brother will enjoy your
pictures, and pick up good cloth.
M: thanks. How is the political system of
your country structured?
J: Singapore is a parliamentary republic with a
Westminster system of unicameral parliamentary government representing
constituencies. Its
constitution establishes representative democracy as its political system.
Executive power rests with the Cabinet, led
by the Prime Minister, and the President. The president is elected through
popular vote, and has some veto powers for a few key decisions such as the use
of the national reserves and the appointment of judges, but otherwise occupies
a ceremonial post
M: what is construction of your government?
J: The Parliament serves as the
legislative branch of government. Members of Parliament consist of elected, non-constituency
and nominated members.
The legal system of
Singapore is based on English common law, albeit with substantial local
differences.
M: I didn’t know that, but now most of information is valuable, I will keep it to share with my friends. It is different between two countries. Let take about the differences. What do you perceive as differences between your culture and the American culture?

J: some things are different, but
some things are not different. We
sometime use the English at life as same as American. I just know information
from books about American and compare my country which is most focus on the
race. We are most same race, but the American has different race which could be
different with my country. Also, American really like the life, they know plan
which is they will do for every day. But in my country, most of people just for
working could get more money to support family.
M:
I agree with you, I got same experience since I have been here. Most of values
I have had about how improve myself to be success. What are about you are going
to do?
J: I just study my major that is
international business at this university. After that I will to go to different
country for studying, maybe I am going to U.S see you and studying.

Preparations for
the interview
For
my second interview, some information I researched about how to make a good
interview, especially, process that I should know that. Frist, I have to choose interviewee, second I
have to selected different questions to ask him, during the interview I have to
communicate with him about different points which are personal and regular. For
this interview, my objective for the interview is that I am going to ask
questions about his country. Before I am going to interview I researched some
information about the Korea will trying to use this information to close him.
Furthermore, I made two copies of questions for each other is order to us what
process is. To record the interview, I will write down important data from
interviewee. After it, I will construe important information from this
interview assignment.
How Did I Approach
People?
It
is very hard for me to find right person, because I don’t any friends who are
from Singapore at this university. I used Skype to connect with my friends
which are from Singapore and ask them that are they have best for this
assignment. Maybe, I talk some friends just 3 friends have best time for this
work, then I compare them which is my best of interviewee. As result, I
selected one person will going to on interview at Skype, because he is not at
U.S. so, it’s hard to interview. But I did very well, because I know him about
3 years, some opinions we are agreed.
When, where, and
how did I Conduct the Interview?
I
worked the interview with Jack FengChen at the Skype. The interview time was at
morning, because we are not at same country which has 14 hours left. I had to check a time for him and used the
Skype. We started the interview at Skype
at morning. First, I send him a copy of questions about this assignment. He
read it and asked some questions. I explain the process of interview how long
will be. At begin, we introduced each
other, and then we were going to focus the conversations. During interview we shared
different information opinions. Also, we used different action to descript ours
points, and eyes contract.
Whom did you
Interview?
I
interviewed my friend his name is Jack FengChen who are from Singapore, living
the biggest of city is Singapore city. He was my classmate when I was at high
school at Singapore. He is one of my best friends when I was at Singapore, he
teaches English when I was at class. He can speak 3 languages which are
English, Chinese, and Malay. Before I left school I gave Skype for him to show
friendly with us. Furthermore, He has same interesting sport which is
basketball, we were teammate at high school, and he also invited me to go to
his family dinner and shared different culture for me about the Singapore. We
are also on the Skype to close each other.
Describe the
Interview
The
second interview was success for me, because I interviewed on the Skype we are
on different countries, it kind be good experiences for me. I learned a lot of
things from this interview. However, I realized a lot more about Singapore on
different aspects that culture, food, festive, and so on. We made successful
job for this assignment, it was good experience. If I have more time I will
tell me about American culture for him, and compare different country. On the
other hand, I can introduce different sports for him.

Singapore
is one of republic of county which is an island at Asia, it made up of 63
islands, and it is separated from Malaysia to its north and from Indonesia’s
Riau islands to its south. It established on 9 August 1965 with YuSof bin lshak
as president and Lee Kuan Yew as prime minister (1). The capital is Singapore
city most of people living. “The population of Singapore is 5.18 million
people”. The resident population does not take into account the 11 million
transient visitors who visit Singapore annually. Dining, along with shopping,
is said to be the country's national pastime. Singapore is very diverse and
young country. It has many different languages, cultures and religions. One of
official law is people cannot freely throw away rubbish. My friend got a ticket
when he visited that country, which is very clear environment. The diversity of
food is touted as a reason to visit the country, and the variety of food
representing different ethnicities is seen by the government as a symbol of its
multiculturalism. The "national fruit" of Singapore is the durian.
